Overview:

Aiico Insurance is an insurance, pensions management, and asset management Group in Nigeria. As the leading insurance company in Nigeria possessing a strong brand matched with a rich heritage, their services include; Life assurance and annuity, General insurance and special risks, Pension management, Health insurance and Asset management.

My first attempt at redesigning Aiico Website began in 2019 while transitioning from graphics design to UI/UX. Obviously the first redesign didn't meet UI requirements and I have taken the initiative to revisit it. I have documented my design process, my thinking & methods and how I came up with the final prototype of the website. I have even included an Interactive Prototype of all screens to get a feel of using an actual website at the end of this case study.

Note: This is just an unsolicited project that I undertook only for showcasing knowledge acquired in my journey into ui/ux design.

The problem

A visit to the current website revealed a number of pain points:

  • No center stage for CTA — Buy plan, Choose a plan.
  • The website looks outdated in visual design.
  • Having to go into different sections when explaining services is quite tasking.
  • The real brand value is not able to be visible on the site.

Problem Statement

“How to reduce the effort and save users time in trying to navigate around the homepage”

Solutions to the Problems

I designed the UI of the website on adobe XD of the following screens:

  • A modified header that includes CTA. Illustration was infused to provide visual aid since it adds value beyond functionality and can be used for storytelling.
  • Re-organized product section using card design to enhance user’s comprehension of the information displayed.
  • Introduced newsletter subscription feature to keep customer up-to-date in regards to new products, special promotional offers etc.
  • Restructured press release feature with improved layout to increase engagement with broader community.

Interactive Prototyping

After gathering all assets, I decided to add some interaction.

Final note

Working on this project boosted my problem solving and critical thinking skills. I also had the chance to explore ideas and innovate.

Though, what I did was not the perfect process as the design process should be iterative and continuous feedback is required from the start itself.

I would love to get feedback and have a discussion about it in the comment section below.
